Domestic staff verification is a set of separate checks: identity, relevant work history, references, any required official police or registration process, and role-specific skills. Ask what was checked for the individual candidate and when. No single document or agency label can guarantee future behaviour or replace a clear working arrangement.
Replace a broad label with specific questions
The word “verified” can describe very different processes. It may mean that an agency has seen an identity document, or it may include references and other checks. Ask the team to explain the process for the actual candidate you are considering. Which documents were reviewed? Was a previous employer contacted? Has the relevant skill been assessed? What remains to be done?
A useful record separates completed steps from planned steps. It should not imply that a document is authentic just because a copy exists, or that a reference confirms responsibilities that were never discussed. You are trying to understand the evidence available, not obtain a sweeping assurance that removes the need for sensible household arrangements.

Separate the checks and their purposes
| Check | Useful for | Does not establish by itself |
|---|---|---|
| Identity documentation | Establishing who the candidate says they are | Cooking, driving or other job competence |
| Previous-employer reference | Understanding relevant work history | The result of an official police process |
| Police or employee registration process | The purpose specified by the relevant authority | A guarantee of future conduct |
| Role-specific assessment | Observing relevant practical work | Every aspect of character or long-term performance |
| Written job brief | Aligning duties and expectations | A substitute for checks or official requirements |
Handle identity information respectfully
Discuss the documents needed for the placement and any official process. Use appropriate verification channels rather than assuming access to government records or relying on a casual claim that a number was “checked.” If someone says a particular government check was performed, ask how that was done and what evidence can appropriately be shared.
Keep original documents with the worker. Store necessary copies securely and restrict access to people handling the placement. Avoid posting identity documents in family groups, community chats or public listings. An initial enquiry about staffing does not require a customer to upload their own identity documents or the candidate’s personal information through this website.
Ask references about the actual job
A previous household can help clarify the work a candidate has performed. Ask about duties, normal hours, length of service and communication. Request examples relevant to the role: daily meal preparation for a cook, vehicle and route responsibilities for a driver, or household task planning for a helper.
Treat a reference as one source of information rather than an unquestionable verdict. A brief or unavailable reference may need follow-up, and a change of employer can have many explanations. Give the candidate an opportunity to explain differences. Record factual points instead of repeating rumours or unnecessary personal details unrelated to the work.
Use the official process for your location
Islamabad Police lists domestic employee registration and other verification services through its official website. Punjab Police Khidmat Markaz lists services including employee registration and general police verification. These are official services with their own purposes and requirements; an agency’s internal screening should not be presented as the same thing.
Check the relevant official source for your address and situation before arranging a visit or submitting documents. Confirm the current documents, procedure and any charges directly with the authority. This guide does not promise a processing time or reproduce a fixed fee that could change. If a society or building has its own access process, clarify that separately from police requirements.
Assess skills in the same way you assess experience
A candidate’s stated experience should connect to the work you need. Ask a cook about the meals your family eats, a driver about your vehicle and regular routes, and a helper about the size and routine of your household. Where practical, arrange a limited, agreed assessment with clear scope and payment expectations.
Do not stretch a general helper or attendant role into specialist work without the relevant competence. In particular, medical tasks and specialist care need appropriately qualified support. The purpose of screening is to make a better-informed decision, not to create a label that justifies asking one person to do every kind of household work.
Keep the record current and the agreement clear
Before joining, confirm which checks are complete, which are relevant to the job and what follow-up remains. Keep a written role description, salary arrangement, contact details and agreed instructions for property access. If the responsibilities change substantially, revisit the requirements rather than assuming the original checks cover a different job.
To discuss a household placement, call Domestic Staff Provider on 0334 1041114. Ask the team for candidate-specific information and the written agency terms. Our six-month replacement support applies under the written conditions; it is not a substitute for official processes or a guarantee against every possible problem.
Questions about this guide
Is a police document the same as a work reference?
No. An official police process and an employer reference serve different purposes. Ask about each separately.
Does verification guarantee a problem-free placement?
No. Checks inform the decision, but future conduct and compatibility cannot be guaranteed. Clear duties, communication and appropriate follow-up still matter.
