How to Become a Maid or House Helper in Pakistan

This is one of the most in-demand domestic roles in every Pakistani city, and also one of the easiest to enter without much prior formal experience. What separates a listing that gets picked from one that doesn't is mostly clarity about scope and reliability.

What the role actually covers

• Sweeping, mopping and dusting
• Washing dishes and general kitchen cleaning
• Laundry and ironing
• Bathroom and window cleaning
• Basic tea and snack preparation in many households

A house helper role is broader again, often including carrying, errands and assisting a cook or driver as needed. A cook cum helper is broader still, adding daily cooking on top of cleaning. Being clear about which of these you're offering, in your listing and at the interview, prevents the most common early dispute: scope creep neither side agreed to.

Full-time, part-time or live-in

All three are common. Part-time, a few hours daily, suits smaller households and is often the easiest to find work in in dense apartment areas. Full-time suits larger houses. Live-in pays more but only works where the property has a proper separate room, ask about this specifically before agreeing.

What moves you up the pay range

• Verifiable experience with a previous household, ideally with a reference you can offer
• Reliability over time, this is the single biggest factor households mention
• Willingness to take on a broader scope, cooking plus cleaning, for example
• Comfort with a live-in arrangement where you genuinely have the option
